Why is it important?
To help understand barriers and try to find a way to overcome those, to help understand why research is importance in the nursing profession
Perspectives
I work in research, and I find it fascinating and so interesting. Unfortunately, research is usually considered a medical-only profession, and it's not well understood and used by nurses. Even among nurses there is a lot of resistance in embracing this discipline as a career possibility. Many nurses do not consider a "proper nurse" a nurse involved in research as not always clinical, but there are a lot of other responsibilities and duties that are not taken into consideration. I hope this article will make nurses understand the importance of research and highlight the importance of research education starting from university. Research nurse can be a very fulfilling career, having a good balance between academic roles and clinical professions. I hope this article could be a starting point to have more research orientated nursing students, willing to go the extra mile in their profession, looking for the latest best evidence-based practice recommendation advancing their knowledge and practice and improving the overall care for patients.
