What is it about?
How I have redesigned the Nursing Associates 1st year Healthcare Numeracy module to use authentic nursing numeracy skills like fluid balance, BMI, centiles, alcohol units, percentage weight change and making it more like the numeracy skills they would be using in practice.

Why is it important?
Shows how making the skills more akin to everyday life on the ward or practice area means the students are more able to grasp the numeracy skills needed
Perspectives
Every student hears the word numeracy and they are immediately taken back to school and if maths was a struggle for them the fear that crosses their minds is palpable. By creating an authentic, valid and usable skillset in the numeracy session the students have all excelled with their learning due to it being more interactive and more relatable to their own practice
