What is it about?

This paper uses a reflective model to discuss how digital technology from Microsoft facilitated the learning of a cohort of neuroscience nurses through a module of CPD learning. There is also a discussion of how nurse education of this nature can enable nurses to become more digitally competent and why this is important.

Why is it important?

This concept is relatively new in higher education and specifically in nurse education in the UK. Awareness and adoption of this approach is key during a time when funding and attendance in relation to nurse CPD is so difficult but also so vital for patient safety.

Perspectives

Writing this article, I hoped that clinicians would gain an awareness of the work that colleagues in higher education were adopting - testing a challenging and innovative method of approach to learning- in an attempt to help nurses fulfil the CPD & re-validation requirements together with increasing nursing competence and confidence in practice resulting in a direct positive effect upon nursing care.
