What is it about?

This article explores the experiences of leadership roles of women in healthcare across the world. It identifies aspects of good practice which act as motivators for women into leadership positions as well as aspects that have hindered or acted as a barrier them pursuing such positions.

Why is it important?

This article identifies issues, specific to health are, which may act as barriers to women who are wanting to pressure leadership roles. It also identifies beneficial techniques and frameworks which may help women pursue leadership if they so wish. The majority of leadership within healthcare is male, yet the majority of the workforce is female. This article gives healthcare management options of concepts and frameworks to enable women to pursue this career path.

Perspectives

I personally think that this subject is not discussed enough in healthcare. Due to this, there is little understanding of how to improve this situation. I hope this article offers solutions and ideas for future practice.
