Why is it important?
Upscaling poses dangers for any organisation, particularly if traditional isolated structures are simply replicated. Benefits of economies of scale, population-based policy, greater influence, reduction of duplication may all end up being illusional if the challenges of navigating a larger organisational structure are not overcome.
Perspectives
This article brings together elements of implementation theory as well as behavioural and organisational science to enable smaller health commissioning groups to work in a more agile and productive manner when collaborating at scale.
