What is it about?
This is a descriptive survey type of study where results of Physics students were collected for analysis using Pro-forma. Students from one public and three colleges of education in Kwara State participated in the study. The results of Physics students collected were analyzed using t-test statistical analysis. Findings indicated that there was a significant difference in students’ academic achievement in Physics based on the subject combination and that the academic achievement of students who combined physics with mathematics was better than those who combined it with chemistry. It was concluded that Physics and mathematics are positively correlated in nature which was why students’ understanding of one assists in the other. Among recommendations suggested was that subject-nature correlation is very important and must be seriously considered before students combine subjects of study in college of education.

Why is it important?
Students' choice of subject combination is critical to academic success in Nigerian Colleges of Education because it determines their classroom performance after graduation. Therefore, students must be adequately guided before choosing the subject combination. A wrong subject combination could hinder a student from progressing in higher education.
Perspectives
The choice of a student subject combination in the College of Education determines how far such a student can go in higher education.
