What is it about?

The article presents a method for designing layered sound-absorbing structures using a genetic algorithm. The structure of each layer, including the choice of material and its thickness, was encoded in the form of a genome. This enabling inheritance, mutation and selection of the best-fit individuals.

Why is it important?

The developed method showed high efficiency, achieving matching the structure to the reference characteristic already at the level of 28 generations. The results confirm the possibility of using genetic algorithms in the design of advanced sound-absorbing structures even in conditions of limited process automation.

Perspectives

The proposed approach opens the way for further work on full automation and development of open simulation tools in the field of acoustics.
