Perspectives

The open source community is an user-generated content domain with its roots in the hacker movement from the seventies. It offered me a unique perspective to learn and understand how people collaborate virtually and accomplish tasks. When I first started working on this project back in 2006-2007, android was still not a major platform, social networks as platforms were still nascent and many open source technologies such as Hadoop weren't mainstream. However, the inherent strengths of the open source ideology made many of these technologies robust and brought them into the mainstream. I am elated at the promise of open innovation and thrilled for having been able to worked on research in the domain at an early stage.
