What is it about?

Choosing among charities depending on the potential benefit to be generated from the grant. For that reason we had to design a unique measure of social value.

Why is it important?

Donors typically receive numerous requests for funding. The model is useful whenever those requests may be recurrent. Moreover, if a donor does not want to limit the scope of his (her) grants to certain type of charities, then it is important to objectively compare the impact to be had when charities offer dissimilar services.

Perspectives

Working on how to assign grants among charities gave me the opportunity to explore issues arising in the non for profit world. There is so much need out there and such limited resources that it becomes imperative to carefully analyze how to allocate them. Hopefully, we may contribute to the ongoing dialogue about how to address scarce resource allocation in the non for profit sector.
