Why is it important?
Patient transportation is an important logistics planning problem in hospitals as it is a precondition for medical treatments and due to the involved costs. Moreover, the problem shows various particularities which distinguish it from standard transportation problems and which might differ according to the considered organization. Therefore, an adequate modelling is essential and solution techniques require adaptation to the considered model.
Perspectives
We hope to stimulate further research on logistics planning in hospitals and user-friendly software solutions to be applied in practice,
