What is it about?

Deep beams are critical in shear than bending. So the area, position and orientation of stirrups are very important in design of deep beams.

Why is it important?

Beam is a flexural members in which, steel calculated on the basis of bending moment. But in case of deep beam, shear is more critical than bending. Also shear is more at support than at mid span. So orientation of stirrups and its spacing is important in design of deep beam.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it support in design the deep beam using cement concrete and geopolymer concrete.
