What is it about?
Indian states have often been vocal on various issues ranging from illegal and forced migration, resource-sharing, or economic development involving neighbouring countries. We find out here how genuinely federal is India’s foreign policy. The study discusses the role of the constituent states in leveraging influence and bargaining for their due share of active involvement as stakeholders, merits critical academic intervention.

Why is it important?
This article discusses the federalizing tendency of Indian foreign policy in the eastern part of the country by students selecting case studies on West Bengal, Assam and other North-East States. Given the Act East Policy of India, these domestic-international linkages and interactions are very important to understand Indian foreign policy.
