Transcription factor binding models are best tested for quality by using multiple different measures

What is it about?

A transcription factor (TF) is a protein that is involved in the steps needed to do transcription, part of the machinery for creating a protein based on part of a DNA sequence. Modelling where a TF binds is useful but can sometimes be difficult. A motif is a type of model, representing the probability of a particular base at each position of a binding site. Assessing quality of motifs is difficult and our results show that it is best to combine multiple measures of the quality of a motif.
