Although various papers have been written on this subject, none came from a Malaysian experience. The National Heart Institute which is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the largest heart institute in the country. We operate approximately 1800 CABG patients per year. This is the first paper from Malaysia that reported our experience. And we intended to pursue this topic by doing a prospective research in trying to reduce the incidence of atrial fibrillation post CABG by using a potent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, Tocotrienol, which is an isomer of Vitamin E derived from Palm Oil.
