What is it about?
The study reports on the genome sequence, gene prediction and annotation of O. coarctata.

Why is it important?
O. coractata is only halophytic rice species, hence the genome information can provide clues to discovery of salt tolerance genes for use in breeding rice varieties for salt affected areas.
Perspectives
It was great opportunity to work with scientists involved in this project as this is the sequence of this important halophytic rice species, which can be potential source of genes for salt tolerance in rice.
