What is it about?
DNA samples are now routinely sequenced. However, when performing an experiment it is possible that a sample may become contaminated with DNA from an unknown origin. FastQ Screen helps users identify the source, or sources, of DNA present in a sample.

Why is it important?
Failure to detect contamination, or sample swaps, can lead to incorrect conclusions being drawn on experimental results.
Perspectives
Prior to complex analysis it is imperative that a DNA sample has passed the necessary quality control checks. We recommend incorporating FastQ Screen into such quality control workflows.
