the first report of clinical effect of a clonidine patch in relieving nausea and vomiting in a series of women affected by unresponsive Hyperemesis gravidarum.

Why is it important?

it is a new and unexpected clinical observation which can lead to improve the treatment and relieve sufferings of such distressing condition known as Hyperemesis gravidarum. the advantages comes both from the drug and the transdermal delivery which doesn't require IV settings and bypass intestine absorbtion which is unreliable in the condition treated

Perspectives

the report should be confirmed by placebo controlled studies and safety follow-up surveillance. the mechanism of action is unknown and further studies are needed
