What is it about?
Intraoperative awareness with recall is a complication of general anesthesia, it may be reported after procedures with regional anesthesia or sedation. Patients may report recollections of pain, paralysis, panic, being unable to breathe, or hearing conversations. We sought to explore if post-operative surveys of a large unselected adult surgical cohort, carried on at multiple time points, could identify and characterize cases of intraoperative awareness with recall.
