What is it about?

The use of a perioperative dextrose infusion is not associated with a significant reduction in incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting. Although its use was associated with reduced antiemetic administration and timing may have some impact on PONV, these findings should be considered hypothesis generating and interpreted with caution. Further large prospective trials are necessary to further investigate.
