What is it about?
PaO2/FiO2 provides an objective marker of lung injury, which independently predicts pulmonary complications and mortality following major surgery. We used PaO2/FiO2 to investigate contributions of PEEP, tidal volume, and driving pressure to lung protective ventilation, which could not be detected using traditional metrics.
