What is it about?
We used high-throughput RNA sequencing to investigate the transcriptome of pancreatic islets isolated from fetal sheep with intrauterine growth restriction.

Why is it important?
We identify new genes that regulate proliferation and metabolism of the islets from growth restricted fetuses. In addition we show new processes that were previously undefined in islets from growth restricted fetuses. These include immune signaling, wnt signaling, adaptive hypoxia response, and proteasome.
