What is it about?
In women with endometriosis, the proportion of activated Treg in endometrioma and endometrium was decreased compared with that in women without endometriosis. In temporally Treg cell ablated mice, the number and weight of endometriotic lesions were significantly increased compared with those in control mice.

Why is it important?
An enhanced inflammatory response caused by reduced activated Treg may be involved in the progression of endometriosis. Our findings may hint a future therapeutic potential by increasing activated Treg in women with endometriosis.
Perspectives
In maternal-fetal immune tolerance, the level of Treg is elevated to tolerate the fetus. Conversely, in autoimmune disease, decreased Treg level results in rejection of even self. So our question was: which pattern is in endometriosis.
