Why is it important?
It is contested whether breastfeeding children can make omega-3 fatty acid DHA themselves or breastfeeding mothers should take dietary supplements of DHA. It is also discussed whether DHA should be added in milk replacement and baby food. The study implies that dietary supplements of DHA in mothers and in milk replacement, might not be necessary.
