What is it about?

The paper deals with full-waveform inversion in seismic data in the acoustic approximation. On this topic, we investigate the ability of stochastic optimization methods (genetic algorithms) to determine a starting model for acoustic 2D full-waveform inversion on synthetic datasets using a smaller grid for the inversion to reduce the computational cost for stochastic methods on large dimensional model spaces.
