Minor knee injuries can initiate arthritis. We examine whether preventing bone resorption (using the bisphosphonate Alendronate) would affect the outcomes after ACL injury in a mouse model.

Why is it important?

There is ongoing controversy about the relative importance of bone and cartilage in the early stages of Osteoarthritis. In this study we prevent bone resorption after ACL rupture in a mouse model, and examine whether OA would still progress.
