What is it about?

Azlactones[Oxazolones], are important intermediates in the synthesis of several small molecules, including amino acids peptides. Furthermore, Azlactones have been reported to exhibit a wide range of pharmaceutical properties , including anticancer , antimicrobial, antitumor , anti-inflammatory , antiviral and anti-HIV activities. Also can be used as molecular photo switches and optical sensors for pH measurements.We have shown for the first time one step multicomponent Mechano-chemical green synthesis of Azalactones.

Why is it important?

For the first time we find an easy access to azlactones via one step Multicomponent Mechano chemical green synthesis in shorter time and higher yields. Also ,we introduced Yield Economy [YE ; Y%/TIME (Min.)] as a a new metric to assess the efficiency of synthetic reactions beside atom economy [AE] .Especially when we compare between Conventional and green synthesis of the same target compound.

Perspectives

I hope that this article makes colleagues think about: 1- Combination of both Multicomponent & solvent free Mecahno- chemical techniques can leads to as an easy green fast economic, as well as its facile work-up, high yield economy and environmental friendliness. 2-Uses of YE Beside Atom Economy as metrics in synthetic reactions.
