Why is it important?

Unnecessary antibiotics expose patients to the risk of adverse drug related events and are threat for communities since they promote development of drug resitant bacteria.

Perspectives

Success of interventions to reduce prescriptions of antibiotics depends on many factors, like the baseline prescription rate of antibiotics. There is a need for a consensus how to measure success of such interventions.
