Why is it important?

It is important because it contributes to understanding to what extent politics relate to decision-making regarding management of Brazilian healthcare services. We wanted to understand whether political parties influence the way health care is managed and if different parties- left, center and right- may change it according to party planks.

Perspectives

This research confirmed our assumption that despite differences on paper, when it came to managing healthcare facilities, most parties in power at the county and municipal levels did not differ much in their approaches. All are contributing to the privatization of the Brazilian healthcare system.
