What is it about?

We have shown that gravity waves generated by the moist convection in the troposphere can propagate into the upper thermosphere and play an important role in the general circulation of the thermosphere.

Why is it important?

We studied vertical propagation of gravity waves from the troposphere to the upper thermosphere. Our result indicated that strong energy flux due to gravity waves from the enhanced cumulus convective activity propagates upward into the upper thermosphere.
