What is it about?

This works deals on the analysis of the changing physiochemical properties of proteins in a set of related genes. The analyzed species were from Rhizobium, soil bacteria that stablish symbiotic relationship with Legumes.

Why is it important?

It is important because one normally thinks that divergence is only change without consequences. But in the work we found that divergence is affecting in many ways the gene products.

Perspectives

We would apply this approach to all genes in the Prokaryotic domain in order to find if there is a general tendency of gene divergence
