What is it about?

While more and more tools offer prediction of the 3D structure of a protein, the main issue becomes the evaluation of the quality of the predicted model. The proposed method addresses this problem by estimating the compatibility between a model-structure and its expected function.

Why is it important?

This paper is one of the outputs of a long lasting collaboration with Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland) on protein structure prediction. It proposes a novel Protein Model Quality Assessment Program which uniquely relies on the function of the target protein. The strength of this method is that it is able to discriminate between good and bad model-structures which addresses the practical needs of biologists, i.e. quality evaluation of a single model.
