What is it about?

Previous exercise studies have demonstrated various extra-pulmonary mechanisms as potentially responsible for breathlessness and poor exercise tolerance after COVID-19. This study demonstrates that lung diffusing capacity for nitric oxide is often abnormal at rest in long COVID and remained decreased after low-intensity exercise in about half of subjects despite alveolar and microvascular recruitment being not different from healthy subjects.
