What is it about?

Why is it important?

The burden of long-COVID / post-COVID sydnrome can be severe in COVID-19 patients following a severe or critical acute course of the disease but also in patients several months after a mild or moderate acute disease. Our study has shown that pulmonary rehabilitation (as a multidisciplinary approach) is a feasible, safe, and effective therapeutic option in COVID-19 patients independent of disease severity.

Perspectives

We hope that the awareness of the multiple benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation (or other specific rehabilitation programs) is rising more and more in health care providers as well as in general public. As a consequence, more symptomatic COVID-19 patients can be referred to rehabiliation programs to treat the symptoms and burden that can be induced by COVID-19.
