What is it about?

Tuberculosis (TB) is still responsible for the deaths of >1 million people yearly worldwide, and yet the accuracy of diagnostic tests need to be improved in order to be useful. On the other hand, there is a single vaccine against TB and yet is not effective in preventing adults' pulmonary TB. In both cases, antibodies-mediated immune response might be a good solution. In this manuscript we review the current knowledge on the role of antibodies for the diagnosis of TB and treatment response monitoring; as well as in vaccination strategies and for treating TB.
