What is it about?

COPD is a disease that has a high burden on the health system, which deteriorates the quality of life of patients who suffer from it. It makes early detection of vital importance to stop or delay its progression. This article evaluates the heterogeneity of concepts, and the controversies associated with early detection of COPD, the risk factors associated with early COPD, as well as the diagnostic tools and potential treatments. Finally, a diagnostic algorithm is proposed to detect patients in this risk population early, taking into account current limitations.
