What is it about?

This article provides a practical overview of cost-effectiveness analyses and their application in respiratory medicine. It serves as a guide to explain non-health economists the key concepts and methods of cost-effectiveness analyses. The case for health economics is made, some key methodological issues are explained, using non-expert terminology and easy to understand examples from the fields of asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. The current state-of-the-art as well as a future perspective is provided.
