What is it about?
Tiny spots, known as nodules, can be detected by chance on computed tomography (CT) scans of the chest. Most such nodules are benign, but a very tiny minority can indicate early lung cancer. Radiologists reading such scans can disagree on exactly how to characterise these nodules, and the way in which they disagree can lead to patients and their doctors receiving different recommendations on what-if-anything- are the next steps in investigating this nodule.
