What is it about?
Extracellular matrix homeostasis plays a key role in tracheal formation.

Why is it important?
Our findings provide novel insights into the role of ECM homeostasis in mesenchymal cell polarization during tracheal tubulogenesis. Notebly, analysis of human tracheal tissues indicates that a decrease in ECM proteins, including FBN2 and Fibronectin, is associated with tracheomalacia.
Perspectives
We hope this article could provide novel targets for tracheomalacia or tracheal stenosis.
