What is it about?
Influenza vaccination is particularly important for vulnerable groups including those with chronic lung disease. However, current vaccines seem least effective in those who need it most. Prime-Boost Double-Dose immunization has been suggested as a general strategy to overcome weak humoral response to vaccines, such as seasonal influenza vaccination, in susceptible populations with weak immunity. Here we demonstrate that boosting and increasing the dose with current vaccines doesn't enhance the immune response, highlighting the need to develop other strategies for vulnerable groups such as COPD patients with influenza.
