What is it about?

Lung ultrasound (LUS) has numerous potential applications for the diagnosis and monitoring of COVID-19. It can contribute to identify patients with lung disease from COVID-19 and help decide which patients need hospitalization and other clinical care. LUS can be performed in the hospital as well as in outpatient settings using portable devices. LUS does not involve exposure to X-rays, allowing repeated exams on the same patient, with special benefit in children and pregnant women. When used by trained operators, it can facilitate the use of LUS for COVID-19 management, in particular in low- and middle-income countries.
