What is it about?
Exercise induced vocal cord dysfunction results in the vocal cords closing when trying to take a breath in. That creates the feeling that the person can't get air when they need it.

Why is it important?
Because the symptom the person with vocal cord dysfunction feels is shortness of breath. They often say that they can't get enough air. It is often misdiagnosed since there are other problems that can cause shortness of breath.
Perspectives
Special testing of exercise with equipment that measures heart and lung function called cardiopulmonary testing is the most effective way to examine for shortness of breath.
