What is it about?
This capacity-building report describes a collaboration between teams in Peshawar and Glasgow to establish advanced diagnostic haematology services. Training, mentoring and careful technology selection supported local molecular tests for JAK2, BCR-ABL and PML-RARA and preparation for an affordable flow-cytometry service with locally relevant antibody panels.

Why is it important?
Patients in low- and middle-income settings often lack access to specialised blood-cancer diagnostics. Sustainable local training and lower-cost tests can shorten diagnostic pathways, reduce the need to send samples elsewhere and show how international partnerships can expand accessible laboratory services.
Perspectives
From my perspective, this work matters because Patients in low- and middle-income settings often lack access to specialised blood-cancer diagnostics. I hope the findings support further research and informed, evidence-based decisions.
