What is it about?
The variable physical and surface properties of halloysite nano tubes, for example tube diameter, are correlated with mineralogical characteristics and can therefore be readily predicted from measurements of features in their X-ray diffraction patterns or infrared spectra that are related to these characteristics.

Why is it important?
Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) are finding increasing use in a wide variety of applications and most of these applications depend on specific but sometimes different properties of the HNTs. The correlations highlighted in this publication will help to ensure that the best type of halloysite for the application in hand is selected.
Perspectives
This publication helps to explain the many varied previous observations and measurements of physical properties on different samples of halloysite and place them in a logical framework.
