What is it about?

The mean velocity is used to calculate the blood flow rate. It is often assumed that the mean velocity is half of the maximal velocity as seen with parabolic flow profiles, but this may not be the case if the velocity profile is not parabolic. This paper sought to determine the velocity profile of the popliteal artery.
