Why is it important?

In this study findings of US-guided FNA showed an agreement of liver cyst sonographic features , with the FNA aspirate color and consistency correlating with lesion histology. There was a statistical association between focal hepatic cystic lesions and patient age.

Perspectives

The study shows the assessment of cystic hepatic lesions in Sudanese subjects. The importance of the study appears in showing the confirmation of sonographic features of hepatic systs with the FNA aspirate color and lesion histology findings. This showed the important role of US-guided FNA in the diagnosis of cystic hepatic lesions.
