What is it about?
Globalization has accelerated at a rate that increasingly challenges industries to remain current and adapt to change. The failure to adapt results in loss, failure, and at times has catastrophic consequences. The impact of globalization on three industries is examined followed by a parallel comparison with the mission enterprise of the North American church.

Why is it important?
The future of missions from North America is challenged by global trends. These shifts are often not recognized or understood. The role of the North American church in mission has shifted. It is imperative to identify what has changed and respond appropriately for the church to fulfill its purpose in mission.
Perspectives
This article will help churches, mission organizations, and missionaries identify the changes that impact their mission and offers six suggestions to guide strategy and engagement. Readers may be surprised by some of these global changes which in some cases reveal hidden biases. Identifying these changes and implementing the suggested responses will make you, your church, and mission organization more effective in fulfilling the Great Commission.
