Why is it important?

This article re-examines John Sung's conversion, and gives closer scrutiny to his ministry. It breaks with the hagiographic tradition and situates Sung in the complex environment in which his evangelism took shape.

Perspectives

This was my first opportunity to give a brief summary of what I found in Sung's journals from when he was in the insane asylum. A fuller publication is forthcoming, but this article lays out the general outline and conundrum: What do we make of Sung's conversion?
