What is it about?

Work related injuries are a major safety concern in to day's health care environment due to manually lifting, moving, and ambulating patients. Nurses move patients multiple times each day, incurring cumulative stress and trauma. These patients have higher acuity levels and obesity putting health care workers at increased risk of injury. Work load, time constraints, and inability to easily access assistive devices result in decreased use. Comprehensive ergonomic programs are needed to promote staff and patient safety.
