What is it about?

This publications highlights what older adults expect to experience, how they expect to be treated versus what they actually experience, treated, when they visit the hospital or clinic for healthcare services. It shows that expectations are often quite different (in the negative form) from actual experience at the point of service use.

Why is it important?

The negative experiences older adults have in the hands of healthcare providers need to be highlighted so that something can be done for a change.

Perspectives

Everyone needs healthcare service at one time or another. For reasons of biology/physiology, older adults may have more need for healthcare services. It is important that the healthcare environment is welcoming and friendly to older adults.
