A quantitative study on which situations and strategies students seem to be helpful in their learning process during an exchange period. Data for this study comes from students having participated in a short cultural exchange programme.

Results from this study might be helpful for lectures and others planning an exchange for students in higher education. The findings points to the importance of reflection and support from supervisors, peers and others involved in an exchange programme.
